Cannes-a small but beautiful place
Cannes, a small city in the north of France, attracts lots of super stars to come here every year in the recent sixty years.
The history of Cannes can date from the 2nd century BC when then it is only a small fishing village which has become a trade center now. In order to occupy it, there was once a war among the countries of Britain, France and Spain. Now, it is a famous city for travel in French Riviera. Here is an ideal place for relaxing on weekends with so beautiful scenery but so high expenses. There are many top grade hotels. Also, there is the famous Croisette. The service of many small hotels is good with reasonable price.
Cannes is famous for its celebrating the international film festival in May every year. You can understand why to choose such a small city like this to hold the world-wide grand gathering. Most people appraise Cannes as refine, elegance, bewitch. This small city has the most advantages of geography by nestled in the foot of the hills, facing the Mediterranean Sea. Walking in the city, you can see the white buildings, the blue sea and rows of big and high palm trees which form the so charming nature scenery.
Cannes is indeed small that the population up to now is just less than seventy thousand. In the early century of 19th, it is a little known place which can’t compare with Nice, a next-door place, where the nobles often go to for holidays. It is not until the year of 1834 when a British Minister came here by accident that the city got the chance to become famous. That year, Lord Brougham with his weak daughter decided to go to Italy by road of Cannes. But for the cholera in Nice, they had no idea but to stay in Cannes instead. No one can image that Lord Brougham liked the scenery here so much that he built a villa here. The coming of the author of Merimee makes Cannes more famous. A lot of famous personalities from Europe come here for holidays after reading his articles about here. Even Emperor Victoria comes here for hibernation.
Cannes is famous mostly because the film festival. In the sun of May, the stars from all over the world come here together that makes a lot of movie fans excited very much.
