I have this assignment for the features of France where i have to write a report on it and Im already slipping behind in this class so i need an A on this project. If you could please help me out here i would extremely appreciate it. Trip to Cote d’azure in France, please advice?

We are planning a vacation to cote d’azure in france and I have the following questions:
1- Is the first week of october a good timing?
2- We are planning to stay in Nice and rent a car and go around to visit Cannes, Monaco and San Remo, is this a wise decision or it is better to stay in a hotel in each town. I mean is it far by car or the road is not clear?
3- We are thinking of visiting Florence, is it too far or we can go by car from Nice or Monaco, how many hours it would take, is there a train?
